Explaining Malaria Gene Expression using Microsoft Hololens

The Wellcome Sanger Institute is one of the world’s leading organisations in the analysis of DNA and genes. A breakthrough study about Malaria had been conducted and to give the general public an engaging peek into this cutting-edge research, a 5-minute Hololens applicaiton has been developed.

The principal researcher would appear as a volumetric avater and give a brief introduction.

The user would then hear a voice over explain the 5 steps in this research, showing relevant data and imagery during each step.

Augmented Reality was valueble in this project because the data had a very specific 3D structure that could not be shown on a 2D screen.

This is a live demo of the application
