Naval Ship Simulation Environment
The goal of this project was to upgrade the visuals of the 3D world that was used in this simulation to the newest version of Unity. The driver would sit on a motion controlled platform and the real-time physics engine would give us the required data in order to generate the environment in Unity. The application was projected on large projection screens using multiple projectors.
Small Ship Simulator
This is the simulator of the fast FRISC-type ship. The second image shows the old visuals that were generated using in-house software. Because the controls are real and the entire platform moves as a real ship would, it feels incredibly realistic. Even with the outdated graphics. I showed the team how they could use Unity to improve the graphics and add different weather scenarios like fog and rain.
Full Mission Bridge
This is the larger bridge-deck simulator. Even though this simulator does not move, people do sometimes get seasick in it! The large white projection surface is used to show the ouside world. This simulator is mainly used for simulating large offshore operations like having a supply ship dock to an oil platform.
